HQW Architects worked closely with the Karen Ann Quinlan Memorial Foundation to develop an archetype for a home for hospice facility located on a rural site in Fredon, New Jersey.
The palliative care facility includes ten individual patient rooms, designed to accommodate specific patient needs. Patient rooms incorporate a personal bathroom, framed view to the rural site, as well as direct access to an exterior patio space. Common spaces include a luxurious family room with a stone fireplace and access to the exterior patio, a meditation room for reflection and relaxation, a residential style kitchen for guests, and state-of-the-art medical support spaces.
A state-of-the-art medical level HVAC system was installed, including two negative pressure Isolation Rooms, to prevent the spread of pathogens. Patient rooms include individual temperature controls, and special attention was given to create a system that is both efficient and quiet ensuring everyone’s comfort.
