Our History
HQW Architects was founded in 1971 by three friends from Syracuse University. William I. Houghton, N. Stewart Quarty, and Frank M. Warr, decided to create an architecture firm based on the principles of innovative design, quality construction, uncompromising attention to detail, and most importantly, the development of unique solutions to satisfy each of their client’s individual requirements. From these ideals, Houghton Quarty Warr Architects was established. As the firm has expanded throughout the Tri-state region, the firm has incorporated and shortened the name to HQW Architects. Five decades and countless projects have led us to design our beautiful new office in Sparta, NJ. Many thanks to our clients, none of this would be possible without you. We look forward to the next 50 years in this exceptional community!
